Task Force o: Intelligent Cooperative Systems for improving pedestrian and drivers' safety

Moderator: José Manuel Menendez, UPM

Taking into account the increasingly interest for the Cooperative Systems, and without losing the reference to Human Centred Design, a new research line have been created for studying how, from an initial signal analysis and processing at the infrastructure, it would be possible to improve the information given to drivers, pedestrians and other users in the transport scenario.

Some of these services are already under test in the CVIS and SAFESPOT projects and are of the utmost importance for increasing safety “in the car” and “on the streets”.

The impact that the deployment of such systems may have is sti ll unknown, requiring a deep analysis of the eff ects of their use, and the way they should be used. For that some statistical analysis should be launched that take into consideration not only technical aspects, but also usability and efficiency ones.
